Error when installing Exchange 12 CTP release

When installing Exchange 12 CTP release the following error may occur:

Exchange Server ‘12′ requires Microsoft Management Console 3.0.

This is even though you installed the MMC 3.0 version.

Follow the solution provided to you by the Microsoft Exchange Team (link)

Create the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\MMC30Core

Event ID 1005 (MSExchangeSA) on Exchange

During startup of Exchange the Microsoft Exchange Services do not start. This error can occur if a domain controller or GC (Global Catalog) is not available during startup or has a very slow link.

Event ID 1173 (MsExchangeIS Mailbox Store) on Exchange 2003

In my eventviewer I have multiple event id’s 1173 which seem to occur during normal working hours.

Event ID: 1173
Source: MsExchangeIS Mailbox Store
Error 0×6bb deleting unused restricted view from folder Folder_ID on database “Storage_Group_Name\Database_name”. Microsoft Exchange Information Store will try to delete the view again at the next maintenance interval.

Solution

This error can be ignored. To bad it can’t be disabled…

During the transition from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003, I needed to change an IP-address of an Exchange 5.5 Server on Windows 2000. After changing the IP-Address of this server (source serve) I made sure the server could reach it’s directory replication server (destination server) in a different site.

Wordpress Update to 2.0.2

The Wordpress team released a security fix for Wordpress 2.0.1. Ofcourse I needed to upgrade a.s.a.p., so that’s why I had a little downtime of about 5 seconds thanks to the speedy upgrade from the Wordpress team.

In my eventviewer I got a great amount of event ID errors 7010, MSEXchangeTransport. After reviewing the description I noticed all events came from the same IP-address. When looking up this IP, I found it to be a Unix/Linux host.

Backup and Restore with ActiveSync

As a nice feature in ActiveSync, it is possible to backup and restore your device (e.g. HP iPaq 2410hx) information. In case of ’sudden’ destruction of data on your PDA you can restore the information back to the PDA.
