Next week I’ll be attending the (Office) Communication Server Wave “14″ airlift in Seattle/Redmond. Microsoft already announced they are dropping the “Office” part from the product, so the new name will be “Communication Server”.
If there is more information that’s available outside the NDA, I’ll share it.
For those who are also joining the airlift, hope to see you there!

Described by the UC Guys, you can now install OCS 2007 R2 on the latest Microsoft OS, Windows 2008 R2.

Version 8.0.6362.143 of the console and add-in brings improvements and fixes that include:
- Improvements to text display on PPT slides in recordings
- Users using IE browser with security setting is set to “Do not save encrypted pages to disk” on Vista machines will be able to join meetings successfully
- Custom text displays correctly when meeting scheduled with Outlook Add-In

For those of you who administrate an OCS or LCS environment, please read the following. It seems an issue has come up with a patch that came available during the last patch releases, regarding KB 974571. As described by Doug Deitterick’s blog, it’s recommended to NOT apply this patch. If you install the patch it’s possible your OCS / LCS servers believe they are in an evaluation mode.
You’ll see events like this one :

I tried to login to OCS Web Access (OCS 2007 R2), but I received the following error :
Cannot sign in because the server is temporarily unavailable.
I logged on to the Web Access server and saw that all services where running. With IIS manager I also noticed that the webservice was running and had the correct certificate.
